It was showtime at The Arts Center Theatre (ACT) on Saturday, July 18 with Seussical KIDS, bringing to life Dr. Seuss’s classic storylines in a musical adaptation. The talented young cast performed to the delight of a full house of family members and friends, with some of them returning for the second show!
WHO can resist the rhythmic and playful beat of Oh, the Thinks You Can Think! Equally compelling is the message of Horton Hears a Who: “A person’s a person, no matter how small.”
Congratulations to the cast of talented young ACTors (Art Center Theatre), which included: Lilah Barhoum, Sophia Bellini, Ava Craig, Meghan Dolan, Imogen Goodman-Williams, Madelyn Goodman-Williams, Addie Grachus, Arina Ignashkina, Finn Kolosso, Cassie Rianna, Jackie Smid, Kim Tran, Ali Traver, and Landon Westlund.
Chris Dayett was director, musical director, scenic and projection designer and currently teaches performing arts at the Marco Island Academy. He also continues to write in his spare time and is currently working on a musical version of a play he wrote at Villanova, so stay tuned!
Members of Marco Island Academy's (MIA) Thespian Troupe 8628 have also donated their time and talents as part of the troupe's community service efforts toward earning its Honor Troupe banner. MIA’s Ari Kuperman was lighting director and production assistant, and Braeden Rianna returned as a member of the production team along with Joaquin Perez. Arts Center Theatre’s technical director Ron Clark designed the production’s lighting.
According to Hyla Crane, Executive Director for the Marco Island Center for the Arts, “the Every Child Deserves Art initiative is grant-funded, which enables the Marco Island Center for the Arts to expand its children’s summer program. Thanks to the generosity and support from the United Church of Marco Island, The Island Country Club Charitable Foundation, The Isles of Collier Preserve Foundation, the Marco Island Woman’s Club, the Marco Island Noontime Rotary, Our Daily Bread Food Pantry and numerous individual donors.”
