This past week, as Marco Noontime Rotary celebrated its 60th anniversary, it installed a new president at its annual event aboard the Marco Princess. And outgoing president Sue Haviland presented awards to outstanding Rotary members.

Noontime Rotary's new president is Joe Nolan. “We have a great club,” stated Nolan to assembled Rotarians. “It's amazing how much we have accomplished over the years. My job as president will be to continue the successful programs we have established over the past 60 years in this community, and to help grow our club so that we can do even more.”

Rotary's outgoing president, Sue Havilland, told the group, "It has truly been an honor to be the president of this club over the last two years, particularly as we celebrate our 60th anniversary. The never-ending commitment to our impactful service projects - locally and globally - and fellowship exhibited by the members of the Rotary is second to none. It is said that “Rotary happens at the club level,” and nowhere is that more evident than this club. I encourage anyone seeking a way to make a difference, while enriching their own life, to consider becoming a Rotarian.”

Sue Havilland also presented the following awards:

To Anabela Fernandes, the “Rising Star” award, which is presented to a new member who has exhibited dedication, initiative, and is on a path toward Rotary leadership.

To George Abounader and Jennifer Tenney - the ”Heart and Soul of Rotary” award, which is given to long-time members who have consistently demonstrated a dedication to the club for services, leadership positions, and adherence to the Rotary motto “Service above Self.”

And the “Rotarian of the Year” award went to Deb Henry for exceptional leadership initiative, tireless contributions to our community, and advancement of Rotary’s mission.
