Noontime Rotary Announces Two Spirit of Marco Island Recipients

The Noontime Rotary Club of Marco Island has announced Scot & Pat Kaufman and Stephen and Barbara Slaggie as the first two recipients of the 2025 Spirit of Marco Island Award.

Spirit Award Co-Chair Al Diaz and fellow Rotarians surprised the couples with the announcement at a dinner, arranged by Allyson and Jim Richards.

Both couples were recognized for their significant philanthropic contributions to the Marco Island community, particularly their support of the NCH Healthcare System Urgent Care Center and the Our Daily Bread Food Pantry Capital Campaign.

The Kaufmans, originally from Maryland, have demonstrated their commitment to giving back through initiatives like The Patricia D. & M. Scot Kaufman Cancer Center in Bel Air, Maryland which they founded. Their philanthropy is guided by the Christian principle "To those to whom much is given, much is expected."

The Slaggies, guided by their deeply rooted Catholic faith, have established a lasting legacy of humanitarian support in the communities where they live. This includes the Stephen and Barbara Slaggie Family Cancer Education Center at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, among numerous other Mayo Clinic initiatives.

The Rotary Club of Marco Island Noontime, which raises funds for Community causes, will formally honor the Kaufmans and Slaggies at their 15th Annual Spirit of Marco Island “Elegant Garden Gala” to be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the Island Country Club.

This event celebrates individuals and organizations who enhance the Marco Island community through their civic engagement, contributions of time, talent, and financial support.

Sponsorship opportunities are available, including VIP table sponsorships for honorees. For more information about sponsorships or tickets, contact Al Diaz at 239-438-5285 or manager@royalmarcoway.com.
