The Marco Island chapter of P.E.O. International learned ways to maximize their charitable donations whileoptimizingtax benefits at a November7 meeting.
Certified Financial Planner and Raymond James Executive Darcie Guerin, a member of the chapter, explained the various tax advantages of making donations through an IRA Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD),and Donor-Advised Fund (DAF). For example, instead of paying taxes on their IRA’s RMD, donors can use a QCD to send those funds directly to a qualified charity, tax-free. Individuals can donate up to $108,000 annually using this strategy.
The group also welcomed a new member, SaraSukurs.Sukurs, who recently became a full-time resident of Marco Island, had been a member of a P.E.O. chapter in Indiana.
