Marco Men’s Club St. Augustine Trip

Posted

Members of the Marco Island Men’s Club, along with their wives and significant others took advantage of some spectacular weather early in December by going on a luxury motor coach trip up to America’s oldest city, Saint Augustine, Florida, for three days and two nights.

This marked the 31-year anniversary of the annual Nights of Lights Celebration, and the group was not disappointedwith the trip. Members Jerry Poulin and his wife Sharon, along with fellow Men’s Club member Tim Clune and his wife Pam made the arrangements for the 36 individuals who took advantage of the opportunity.

The Nights of Lights Celebration revolves around a tradition brought to the area by its Spanish descendants to place lit candles in their windows during the holiday season. Candles have been replaced in 2024 by just over three million sparkling white lights in and around the city center.

The Marco travelers visited many of the city’s historical sights, and on the last evening, they dined together at one of the city’s most historic restaurants, before embarking on a delightful trolley tour to view spectacular lighting arrangements in and around the historic city center.

St. Augustine mirrors the population of Marco Island at approximately 16,000 residents. It was founded in 1565 by Spanish colonists and is the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in the United States.

The Marco Men’s Club will have been established 33 years this coming May 5, 2025, and its membership is open to the men of Marco Island. A number of co-ed activities, as well as dinners, travel experiences, and other fun activities, are held throughout the year. Visit their website at www.marcomensclub.com for more information.
