Marco Island Woman’s Club Celebrates August

On Marco Island, the month of August is known for its vibrance and light with a sense of hope and excitement for the coming new season. And so it was for the Marco Island Woman’s Club (MIWC) as they recently gathered for a delicious luncheon at Hideaway Beach Club. Hosted by MIWC member Catherine Thomas, this event was a fun way to connect in friendship while looking forward to a new season ahead.  

Delectable food and a Hollywood movie trivia game made this an outstanding event that was enjoyed by all. The ladies of MIWC are always thinking of ways to nurture the future of our island, and this gathering was no different. In lieu of luncheon party favors, Catherine Thomas announced that a donation was made to the Marco Island Woman’s Club Charitable Foundation Scholarship Fund. That is a gift that truly gives back to our community!  

MIWC is embracing the magic of the silver screenthis year. In September, the club will enjoy a private showing of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale at Marco Movies. If you happen to be in the vicinity of the theater at that time, you just might think you are catching a glimpse ofCora Crawley, Countess of Granthamor even Lady Mary, as we plan to dress for the occasion!  

Our theme of Hollywood glamour will roll with lights, camera, and actionall the way to our annual Fashion Show fundraiser in February. An Affair to Remember will be a style extravaganza that will rival the red carpet of the Oscars. This blockbuster event will raise funds for scholarships and other charitable causes in our community.
