Marco Fire Rescue Foundation Thanks Community for 9/11 Memorial Support

Posted

The Marco Island Fire Rescue Foundation extends its deepest gratitude to the Marco Island community and to everyone who helped make the 25th Anniversary 9/11 Memorial and Remembrance Ceremony a meaningful and lasting tribute to those whose lives were lost on September 11, 2001.

The dedication of the new 9/11 Memorial at Marco Island Fire Station 50 was the culmination of months of planning, fundraising, collaboration, and countless volunteer hours. More than a monument, the memorial now stands as a permanent place of remembrance—a symbol of courage, sacrifice, resilience, and the promise that we will never forget.

The Foundation offers its sincere appreciation to the members of the 9/11 Ad Hoc Committee, whose dedication and commitment brought the vision for this memorial to life. Their work, from the earliest planning stages through the dedication ceremony, was instrumental in making this important community project possible.

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the Marco Island Fire Rescue Department and the Marco Island Police Department for their participation, assistance, and continued service to our community. Their presence at the ceremony was a powerful reminder of the bravery and sacrifice of first responders everywhere.

A special thank you goes to the Marco Island Middle School Jazz Band and Sean Hunt and Tom Jenkins, our Bagpipers, whose participation added a meaningful and memorable element to the remembrance ceremony. Seeing our young people take part in honoring the events and heroes of September 11 helps ensure that the lessons and legacy of that day are carried forward to future generations.

The Foundation is also deeply grateful to the contractors and businesses whose expertise, generosity, and commitment helped transform the vision for the memorial into reality:

Premier Structural Systems

ADB Homes Concrete

Perfect Connections Electric

Polar Engraving

SunMac Stone Specialists

Each played an important role in creating a memorial that will stand on Marco Island for generations to come.

Most importantly, the Marco Island Fire Rescue Foundation extends a very special thank you to the Marco Island community. The financial generosity, encouragement, attendance, and emotional support we received throughout this project were extraordinary. Individuals, families, businesses, and organizations came together because they understood the importance of creating a permanent place on Marco Island to remember September 11 and honor the lives, courage, and sacrifices associated with that day.

“This memorial belongs to our entire community. It was made possible because Marco Island came together with one heart and one purpose—to remember those we lost, honor the heroes who answered the call, and ensure that future generations never forget September 11, 2001. On behalf of the Marco Island Fire Rescue Foundation, thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, participated, and stood beside us. Your support made this memorial possible, and we will be forever grateful,” said Dianna Dohm, President Fire Rescue Foundation.

The Marco Island Fire Rescue Foundation is proud that this memorial will now stand as a permanent reminder of one of the most consequential days in our nation’s history—and of the strength that comes when a community joins together in remembrance.

We will remember. We will honor. We will never forget.
