What a fun day for all those members who signed up for this year's Marco Cruise Club Scavenger Hunt! No less than 52 Marco Cruise Club members, friends, and family boarded their vessels early Monday morning to navigate their way out to Factory Bay and the starting line for the competition.
There were riddles to be solved, places to go, and waypoints to be made along the way. There was even a Gypsy to be found on Isles of Capris who was handing out fortunes and Tarot card readings to earn you points if you dared. Event Captains Vice Commodore Tom and Saylor Stam were meticulous in organizing and planning the event. Their diligence in their efforts paid off. Everyone was "on board" and scavenging around for every point to be had. The competition was apparent as boats passed by each other smiling and saying nothing to see here. Time went by and all headed back to Smokehouse Bay to submit their results to the judges.
While the scoring and tallying were taking place members enjoyed a well-deserved raft up for lunch. First place was announced and went to Capt. Senda and crew on "Life Finds a Wave." Second place to Capt. Blum and crew on “Hurricane.” Third to Capt. Korpak and crew on "Yr-Rounder." Everyone cheered and was happy for the winners. Then the talk began about NEXT YEAR’S event and how they were going to beat them.
As the Hunt came to a close, Vice Commodore Tom and Saylor Stam were seen leaving the docks with their Marco Cruise Club burgee and Vice Commodore Flag flying high above their boat "Opus One." It was a sight to see. Congratulations to all for making it another wonderful day on Marco Island, marcocruiseclub.com.
