Marco Cruise Club members recently completed their third successful cruising event of the season, this time to the Middle Keys to Marlin Bay Marina and the Faro Blanco Marina and Resort located in Marathon, Florida.
On this recent cruise to the Keys, some members navigated the Gulf via the Yacht Channel, and some via the direct route. All boats arrived safely for the first night. The weather was a bit challenging, so they took their time, and they all did well.
The next day, some members left Marlin Bay and cruised over to Bimini, located in the Bahamas, for some fun and to scout out the possibility of putting together a trip in the future for the Club. The rest of the boats headed over to Faro Blanco to meet up with members coming by car.
Meanwhile, the MCC members who came by car made stops along the way, which included the Oasis Visitor Center, Jimmy Johnson's Big Chill, and Alabama Jacks in Key Largo. While still others arrived by plane at the Marathon airport to join everyone at Faro Blanco for the rest of the trip.
The next day, a tour of the Legendary Grimal Grove Botanical Garden on Big Pine Key was scheduled that included samples of fruit as well as a vodka tasting made from their own breadfruit. After the tour and tasting, a side trip was made to the No Name Pub. Sightings of tiny Key deer along the way to the Pub were an added treat. Members headed back to the Marina for a group dinner, and a very large, delicious ice cream birthday cake as a surprise for Capt. Frank Catalano.
However, "Fair winds and following seas" were not forecast for the last day, so the Captains decided to head out a day early. A wise decision. That last night at the Butterfly Cafe group dinner, a big thank you was given to Captain Bruce and Debbie Boyer, Captain Don and Rosemary Harty, and Stacey Stevens for all the work they did in planning this trip. It was a success. Lots of friendships were renewed. Everyone got home safe and sound and are all looking forward to the next fourth and final cruise.
The last cruise scheduled for this Season is to Key West and the Galleon for the popular Singer Song Writers Festival in May. The schedule for NEXT season's activities and cruises is being finalized now and will be available for viewing soon at marcocruiseclub.com.
