Many Species Greet Birders

Posted

Friends of Tigertail hosted their second "Breakfast and Birds" presentation of the season on Saturday, March 15 and participants were delighted to learn about our feathered beach friends. Fran Huxley, experienced birder and Friends of Tigertail member described "magnificent migrators" with a poster created by Susan Kubat, and detailed physical and behavioral clues that aid in identification. Armed with binoculars, the group of 30 walked to the lagoon beach to practice bird identification, marveling at the number and variety of birds feeding at the shoreline.

Friends of Tigertail hosts two birding presentations each year as well as quarterly beach cleanups. Their next event is Saturday, March 22 when they join Keep Collier Beautiful and Collier County to host The Great American Clean-up/Bay Days to clean this beautiful area for wildlife and beachgoers alike. Find out more about their activities at their Facebook page or website www.FriendsofTigertail.com.
