Long Live Downton Abbey

A semblance of aristocracy recently graced a Sunday matinee at Marco Movies as the ladies of the Marco Island Woman’s Club (MIWC) attended a private showing of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale. Club members and guests dressed for the occasion in hats, sequins, and opera gloves. Despite the allure of the glitz and glamour, the MIWC award for best costume went to a beloved housemaid, aka Lynn Nathanson, with her apron, cap, and feather duster! The movie was fabulous, bringing a grand finale and closure to the dramatic and sometimes scandalous lives of the beloved charactersof the Downton Abbey franchise. We laughed, we cried, and a jolly good time was had by all!

The movie may have ended, but thiswill not be a grand finale to the cinematic sensations of MIWC! Plans are already underway for “An Affair to Remember,” the 2026 Fashion Show fundraiser of the club.Picture a display of glamour and style that will rival the red carpet of the Oscars! Mark your calendar now for Monday, February 23, at Naples Lakes Country Club! This blockbuster event will raise funds that will be distributed in scholarships to students living on Marco Island and other charitable causes within our community. Sponsorship opportunities are available. A gift to the Marco Island Woman’s Club is a gift to the entire community!
