Kiwanis Champions Youth, Education, and Community Impact

The Kiwanis Club of Marco Island continues to be a driving force for positive change in our community, dedicated to improving the lives of children and fostering a spirit of service that resonates far beyond its membership. Guided by the global mission of Kiwanis – to serve the children of the world – the Club brings together passionate volunteers committed to making a meaningful difference where it matters most.

Throughout the year, the Kiwanis Club hosts a variety of engaging and successful fundraising events, each designed not only to bring the community together but to directly support the next generation of leaders. A cornerstone of these efforts is the club’s scholarship program, which benefits graduating seniors from Marco Island Academy. Through these scholarships, deserving students are given the opportunity to pursue higher education and achieve their dreams.

For more than 25 years, the Kiwanis Club has proudly awarded scholarships to deserving students, helping them pursue higher education and achieve their goals. The scholarship program is both thoughtful and thorough, ensuring that recipients are selected based on merit, commitment, and potential.

Students interested in applying are required to complete and submit a detailed application outlining their achievements, goals, and community involvement. Each application is carefully reviewed by a Scholarship Committee, a group dedicated to recognizing excellence and promise. As part of the selection process, applicants participate in personal interviews with the Committee, allowing each student the opportunity to share their story, aspirations, and character in a meaningful way.

Our scholarship program is about more than financial support – it’s about recognizing hard work, encouraging ambition, and investing in the leaders of tomorrow, said a club representative. We take great pride in the care and consideration that goes into selecting each recipient.

The following individuals have been selected as this year’s Kiwanis Key Club Scholarship recipients: Matthew Asbell, Nathan Olsen, Logan Terreri, Amara Patel, Ellora Patel, John Toledo, Melanie Zarate-Centeno, Jonathan Juels, and Kai Samuel.

This year’s recipient of the Ray McChesney Community Service Scholarship is Catherine Taddei.

In addition, two exceptional students – a female and a male- have been selected to receive the prestigious Kiwanis Leadership Scholarship. In keeping with tradition and to preserve the excitement of the occasion, the names of these recipients will be announced at the upcoming awards night at Marco Island Academy. Their identities are being held in confidence to ensure a memorable and celebratory surprise.

The Kiwanis Club’s unwavering dedication to service, education and community engagement continues to make it an extraordinary organization – one that not only uplifts today’s youth but helps build a brighter future for all.
