Kiwanis – All About the Kids

Kiwanis Club of Marco Island is all about the kids! Our mission to improve the world, one child and one community at a time has us raising funds for our many projects. Each year we recognize and host Terrific Kids from grades three to five at both Tommie Barfield Elementary School and Manatee Elementary School. We started and support Builder's Club for the Marco Island Charter Middle School. We support Marco Island Academy Key Club for our high school kids. We give out scholarships to deserving graduating seniors each year. We raise funds so that every child at Manatee Elementary School will receive a gift from Santa each Christmas. In addition, we sponsor and support many other events to help the kids throughout the year.

In order to successfully accomplish these missions, we must raise funds each year. We have just recently completed two of our major fundraising events. On Saturday, February 22nd, we held our 21st Annual Car Show at Veteran's Community Park where 25 Kiwanians, and  12 friends as well as 50 Key Club members spent over 210 hours of their time to make the event a huge success. On Saturday, March 1st, under the leadership of Kiwanian Alex Galliano, we held our 10th Annual 5K Run for the Kids at Hideaway Beach. On a beautiful Saturday morning, we had seven Kiwanians and 35 Key Club members volunteer to help make this another successful event. Over 40 medals were given out to winners in various age categories. Thanks to the many volunteers as well as the very generous sponsors for both events.

Our last major fundraiser for the season will take place on Saturday, March 22nd at Veteran's Community Park at 11:00 AM when Kiwanis Club will co-sponsor, along with Sunrise Rotary and Noontime Rotary, our first Corn Hole Event. Come on out and have some fun!
