On Friday, May 15th, the Honors Statistics class at Marco Island Academy, instructed by Mr. Wolfe, traded the classroom for the putting green during a fun-filled trip to Marco Golf and Garden.
Students spent the class miniature golfing while collecting real-world data that will later be used in class for a variety of statistical analyses. Using their scores and results, students will calculate descriptive statistics, create graphs, explore normal distribution calculations, analyze scatterplots and correlation, study probability, random variables, and conduct hypothesis testing.
The outing provided a hands-on learning experience that combined academics with teamwork and friendly competition. Most importantly, fun was had by all as students enjoyed applying statistics concepts outside the classroom. Congratulations to Dakota Tenney for taking home first place with a score of 46.
