Hideaway Focuses on Foster Children

Diapers, diapers, and more diapers. When friends in Hideaway Beach asked Fostering Success, a 501(c)3 serving local foster children, what was needed in the summer months for foster babies, the answer was always diapers! Friends in Hideaway Beach sponsored a ‘baby shower,’ and the results were enough diapers, hygiene products, clothes, and toys to see most of these babies through the summer months.

“A group of us got together one afternoon and decided we could help these kids. It felt so good to know our contributions were put to immediate use. We encourage every community to do the same, especially in the summer months,” said Nancy Heilm, resident of Hideaway Beach.

There are approximately 300+ children in foster care in Collier County at any given time. For over 25 years, Fostering Success has served younger foster children with basic needs such as cribs or toddler beds, car seats, clothes, and diapers. They also offer afterschool programs, emergency backpacks, scholarships, academic mentoring, sports and arts and summer camps for older children. Annually, Fostering Success helped over 750 children and fulfilled over 2,300 requests for assistance.
