Everglades City Lions Club Turkey Shoot

The Everglades City Lions Club Turkey Shoot is coming March 21-22! It is one of the biggest the biggest event of the year. The Turkey Shoot has paper targets - no birds are hurt - which and like last year, this event takes place at Mayberry’s Cypress Tower Camp, located at 18101 Cypress Tower Road in Ochopee. Raffle tickets are for sale around EC with gift certificate prizes. Door prizes will also be awarded. Each shoot is essentially a 50-50 drawing, with the winner getting half the shoot money and the Lions Foundation of Everglades getting the other half.

Since the rifles are using birdshot at the targets, the winners are purely random luck. The winner could be a first-time shooter or an experienced pro. You never know. But the judges use calipers to see which shooter got closest to the center of the target. Safety, of course, is paramount. There will be strictly enforced guidelines.

Last year’s shoot was the first after an absence of about eight years. The Lions Club is happy to be able to offer it again. It’sa great way to keep the Gladesmen culture alive for families in the EC area.
