Emmy Award Winner Steven Feldman Talks to Sunrise Rotary

Marco Island’s Sunrise Rotary continued its “Wake Up to Rotary Speaker Series” with a recent presentation by Emmy Award winning director and producer Steven Feldman.

Feldman’s career includes an Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing in a Children’s Series for Sesame Street (“Emmy Award, Sesame Street, 2002. Outstanding Directing in a Children's Series”) and nine additional Emmy nominations. He spoke about the lifelong impact of early literacy and the joy children experience when receiving and sharing books. The presentation was part of the local Club’s promotion of Rotary International’s September focus on education and literacy.

As a board member of Books for Collier Kids, Feldman emphasized the organization’s mission to place books directly into the hands of local children. Since its inception, Books for Collier Kids has distributed more than 2.1 million books, helping build strong reading habits and brighter futures. Community members can learn more or get involved at BooksforCollierKids.org.

Sunrise Rotary’s next meeting will be on October 6, at which the featured speaker will be Bonnie Thayer. Thayer is the Executive Director of Baby Basics and will share insights on that organization’s effort to help our community.

Sunrise Rotary meets at Stonewall’s restaurant on Tuesdays at 7:00 AM. Its speaker series continues with these upcoming presentations: October 13 by Dennis Wallace, Rotary District Governor; October 20 by Ben Bridges, CEO of St. Matthews House; and October 27 by Marco Island Historical Society.
