Dense Fog Didn’t Dampen Cleanup Spirit

Posted

Despite thick early morning fog, 32 volunteers came to Tigertail Beach on Saturday morning, December 6, for the quarterly beach cleanup sponsored by Friends of Tigertail. Among the participants were eight MIA Key Club students, five Friends board members, perennial as well as first-time volunteers. Most reported that the beach appeared to be cleaner than usual. Thirty pounds of trash and recyclable items were collected after the volunteers scoured the sand, boardwalks, paths, and mangroves. The next cleanup will be March 28, part of the Bay Days/Great American Cleanup, a county-wideendeavor to clean all Collier County beaches. Also coming up are two free "Breakfast and Birds" programs sponsored by the Friend's group: January 17 and March 21. Avian physical and behavioral characteristics will be described and bird identification practiced. More information can be found on the Friends of Tigertail Facebook page and their website: www.FriendsofTigertail.com.
