Green was promoted to Brigadier General in 2019 while serving as Deputy Chief of Chaplains of the United States Army. He was promoted to Major General in 2023, with a formal promotion ceremony held in March 2024.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, and raised on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Green earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Savannah State University and a Master of Divinity from Emory University. He is an ordained minister in the National Baptist Convention.
“We are honored to welcome Chaplain Green,” said Rev. Dr. Ed Brandt, Senior Pastor of United Church of Marco Island and a retired Army National Guard chaplain and Brigadier General. “His life demonstrates that Christian leadership is ultimately about service. Throughout his military and ministry career, he has cared for others, offered hope, and remained present during difficult moments.”
The community is invited to attend. No military connection is necessary. The services will offer an inspiring message about faith, leadership, perseverance, and service.
