MDR – Your Brain Health Matters is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Paul Nussbaum, a clinical neuropsychologist with board certification in both clinical psychology and geropsychology, as Chair of the Champagne Center for Brain Health—marking a significant milestone in the organization’s mission to advance brain health education, leadership, and community impact.
Dr. Nussbaum is an internationally recognized authority in brain health and healthy aging, with more than three decades of experience shaping clinical practice, academic research, and public understanding of the human brain. His work has influenced audiences across the United States, Europe, Asia, and beyond, helping to define and elevate the modern field of brain health.
“I was blessed to be present at the modern-day inception of brain health in the late 1990s, working to help define and shape the burgeoning field it has become,” said Dr. Nussbaum.
In his role as Chair, Dr. Nussbaum will provide strategic vision and leadership for the Champagne Center for Brain Health, guiding its educational initiatives, professional training programs, and community outreach efforts. His leadership will support MDR’s commitment to empowering individuals and families with clear, science-based, practical, and personally relevant insights to support lifelong brain health.
“I have spent most of my professional life studying the human brain and its relationship to behavior,” Dr. Nussbaum shared. “Weighing just three pounds, composed of 60 percent fat, and demanding 25 percent of the blood from every heartbeat, the brain is the single greatest miracle ever designed—and it sits right between our ears. I am honored to serve as Chair and to support a mission grounded in science, compassion, and community.”
The Champagne Center for Brain Health—an initiative of MDR – Your Brain Health Matters—is dedicated to advancing evidence-based approaches to brain health through education, advocacy, and innovative programming. Targeted to open in the spring 2026, the Center will be located adjacent to the new NCH Urgent Care on Marco Island at the intersection of San Marco Road and South Heathwood Drive. The Center will be just feet away from the new NCH facility and will expand access to brain health resources throughout South Collier County.
Through Dr. Nussbaum’s leadership, the Center aims to elevate awareness of cognitive health across the lifespan while deepening appreciation for the miracle that sits between our ears—guided by clarity, credibility, and compassionate care.
“Dr. Nussbaum’s leadership and global perspective bring exceptional credibility and momentum to our work,” said Tim Rose, Chair of MDR – Your Brain Health Matters. “His appointment reflects our commitment to excellence and our belief that brain health education must be both scientifically rigorous and deeply human,” Rose said. “As an organization, we want to be the trusted source for brain health.”
Dr. Nussbaum is the author of numerous books and peer-reviewed publications and is a frequent lecturer and media contributor on topics including brain health, memory, aging, and cognitive resilience. His appointment underscores MDR – Your Brain Health Matters’ dedication to trusted leadership and thoughtful innovation in an evolving field.
