Captain Pete Two Man Redfish Tournament

Posted

After three weather-related postponements, the Marco Sportfishing Club's highly anticipated Captain Pete 2 Man Redfish tournament finally kicked off on November 22nd. This event is very special to the club as it is in memory of our great friend Pete Arcidiacono. Eleven eager teams departed from San Marco Marina at 8:00 AM, with a shotgun start sending three teams out every 30 seconds. Two additional teams launched from the Jolley Bridge. Despite some windy conditions, the day proved to be ideal for fishing. Four teams returned to San Marco Marina to weigh their catches. Congratulations to our winners: First Place - Chris Hutchings and Allen Lobos (2 fish, 7.00 pounds). Second Place - Jay Jones and Keith Wohltman (1 fish, 5.5 pounds). Third Place - Bob Bixler and Bob Trento (1 fish, 4.66 pounds), and Fourth Place - Ken Robertson and Dave Dodd (1 fish, 4.44 pounds).  While the tournament was a success, many anglers reported catching smaller redfish. The club is excited to announce that in next year's tournament these small redfish will have grown to become keeper size! The club extends its sincere gratitude to Gloria Robertson and Russ Roe for their invaluable work at the scales, and to San Marco Marina for providing the tournament venue. Special thanks also go to the Sand Bar for their generous donation of gift cards. We look forward to another exciting fishing event next year!
