It was a busy week from January 18-24 for Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island, as the club hosted two workshops for members and promoted the club activities at J.McLaughlin, in addition to sponsoring a gadabouts trip for members to Peace River Botanical and Sculpture Gardens.
On Monday, January 19, Floral Design Co-Chairman Bonnie Colman presented a floral design workshop on mass traditional designs. Participants learned how to condition their flowers, how to cut and arrange their flowers and greens, and how to best showcase their various colors, shapes, and sizes of flowers in their arrangements. The photos show some of the participants with their colorful floral designs.
On Tuesday, January 20, member Nanette Baumgardner hosted a horticulture workshop in two sections: repotting a phalaenopsis orchid and a tour of her newly designed native plant landscape. Ten members repotted their own orchids and enjoyed the beautiful and environmentally friendly landscape at the Baumgardner home.
On Wednesday, January 21, Membership Chairman Valerie Aguis chaired the Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island promotional table at J.McLaughlin store at Marco Town Center. The club disseminated information about our activities and raffled an overflowing basket of lemon-themed items to local shoppers.
On Friday, January 22, club members will visit Peace River Botanical and Sculpture Garden to see the garden’s exhibit Origami in the Garden. The club’s gadabout trips are offered monthly for members to visit local attractions.
