On Monday, January 12, 2026, Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island welcomed speaker Mary Raimond, a Flower Show Judge and member of Naples Garden Club, who demonstrated her skill in weaving and braiding areca palm fronds. Members were asked prior to the meeting to bring scissors, staplers, and areca palm fronds, and the room was full of greenery. About 45 club members and 20 guests from the community worked to learn these skills as Raimond demonstrated the techniques and then worked with the participants one-on-one.
During the club’s business meeting, three new members were welcomed into the club.
