Baiting Beauties Fishing Tournament

Posted

Last week the Marco Sportfishing Club held their annual "Baiting Beauties" fishing tournament. Female entrants could choose one day from Monday, March 3rd to Saturday, March 8th, to fish for up to six hours for a specific variety of fish. This was the 16th year and a great success with over 25 volunteer captains and mates taking a total of 51 women out on the water for a day of sun (mostly), fun, and prizes. The tournament culminated with a picnic at Sarazen Park where accolades and awards were distributed and delicious corned beef sandwiches from Jason's were served. The impressive catches were a  26.5” redfish by Patti Boyle along with two redfish caught by Angelica Andrews one at 21” and another at 21.5”. A few worthy spotted sea trout were caught as well. Jane Konkoly had a 21.75” along with 21” trout caught by Bobbi Ordija and Stacey Wren. Congratulations ladies!

Cathy Erickson and Peggy Alcott led a group of very hard-working and dedicated volunteers who put together this wonderful event! March 2026 is already in the planning stages!

You can see more photos and learn about the Marco Sportfishing Club on their website Marcosportfishingclub.com. They meet the first Thursday night of the month at St. Marks Parish Hall. Doors open at 6:30. Meeting starts at 7:00. All are welcome.
