Ankrolab Event to Benefit Rookery Bay Sea Turtles

Ankrolab Brewing and Friends of Rookery Bay are partnering throughout July to protect sea turtles nesting on local beaches.

From July 1 through July 31, anyone who adopts a sea turtle nest through rookerybay.org, at the Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center or at Ankrolab Brewing will receive 20 percent off their tab on a one-time purchase.

Ankrolab and Friends of Rookery Bay will also host a Sea Turtle Conservation event from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, at the brewery, 3555 Bayshore Drive. Ankrolab will donate $1 from each purchase of Turtle Season beer and a special cocktail that night. Friends of Rookery Bay will have fun sea turtle games, trivia, prizes, and giveaways. There will be music and a food truck.

Loggerhead sea turtles, a threatened species, nest from May 1 through October 31 along Rookery Bay Research Reserve’s 110,000 acres, which stretch from Keewaydin Island through the Western Everglades and encompass 40 percent of Collier County's coastline. Friends of Rookery Bay funds sea turtle interns and program supplies such as cages to protect turtle eggs and hatchlings from predators. People or companies who adopt a nest get a tag on a cage acknowledging their support.
