Fusion is the order of the day at Sushi-Thai Marco Island. Karnjana Sirimaturos has blended the much-loved cuisines of two Asian nations at her restaurant, located in the Shoppes at San Marco Plaza.
The eatery, which opened in November, features an extensive menu of appetizers, soups, salads, and main courses. There are authentic dishes from Thailand, including flavorful curries and classic Pad Thai. From Japan, there is sashimi, ramen, and of course, sushi, bento boxes, and more.
“All of our dishes are freshly prepared to ensure quality and authenticity,” said Sirimaturos, a Bangkok native better known by her nickname, ‘Sung.’ “Our restaurant concept is centered around authentic flavors, warm hospitality, and a comfortable atmosphere. My approach is simple — focus on quality ingredients, freshly made-to-order dishes, and genuinely friendly service so every guest feels at home.”
The child of a family of food vendors, she brought a lifetime of cooking and restaurant operations knowledge with her when she emigrated to the U.S. years ago. Sushi-Thai Marco Island is her second local restaurant. Sirimaturos is also the owner of Sushi-Thai of Naples, located on 5th Avenue South.
She no longer utilizes her skills as a cook, instead leading menu development and overseeing quality and execution in the kitchen.
Sirimaturos attributes the decision to expand to Marco to falling in love with the community upon visiting for the first time.
“The calm coastal atmosphere, lush surroundings, and the genuine kindness of the people made me feel instantly connected,” she said. “Opening a restaurant here wasn’t just a business decision. It was a heartfelt desire to become part of a community I deeply admire.”
She cites several qualities that set Sushi-Thai Marco Island apart from other Asian Fusion restaurants on the island, chief among them a commitment to hospitality.
“We combine authentic Thai and Japanese flavors with a welcoming, home-like atmosphere,” she added. “Our goal is for every guest to feel comfortable, valued, and genuinely cared for from the moment they walk in.”
Sushi-Thai Marco Island is open for lunch and dinner, Tuesday through Sunday. There are happy hour specials, an Early Bird Dining Special for two, and takeout and delivery are available. The restaurant is located at 1825 San Marco Rd.
