The Marco Island unit of the American Cancer Society (ACS) recently received a check for $2,500 from the Marco Island Woman’s Club (MIWC).
“The Marco Island Woman’s Club is grateful for the opportunity to support the American Cancer Society,” said MIWC Immediate Past-President Maureen Chodaba. “In our 2024-25 season, two of our MIWC Executive Board members were diagnosed with breast cancer. I am happy to say that they were successfully treated and are living happy, healthy lives. Several members of our club are long-term survivors of various types of cancer. In just a few months I will celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the day when I heard the words, ‘You have breast cancer’, said Chodaba, adding “We thank the American Cancer Society for their funding of research, education, and patient support services that will finish the fight someday soon, once and for all, against this horrific disease.”
The donation from MIWC will be directed to the support of local causes related to female cancers through Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, a signature event of the American Cancer Society.
