A few weeks ago, I suffered a fall at the Capitol that fractured the fibula in my right leg and required surgery. I won’t focus much on how it happened - what matters more is what I’ve learned through the experience.
Temporary though this injury may be, it has given me a lasting glimpse into what many of our neighbors live with every single day: the struggle to move, to shower, to get out of bed, or simply use the restroom - things so many of us take for granted. For me, this is a season. For them, it’s a way of life.
I now have an even deeper respect for the incredible strength and dignity of people who live with mobility challenges or chronic pain, often with little to no support. I’ve learned firsthand that when even one part of the body doesn’t work the way it should, the whole person suffers - and so often in silence.
As your State Representative, I carry these lessons with me. This experience hasn’t slowed down my commitment - it has sharpened it. I want every Floridian to know: I see you. I hear you. I am here to be your voice, especially when you feel unseen.
Today, I am more grateful than ever for every part of the body God gave me - and more determined than ever to fight for a Florida where everyone has the dignity, support, and care they deserve, regardless of ability.
Thank you for your continued prayers, patience, and love. I’m on the mend - but I’m also more motivated than ever to serve you.
