The Conservancy of Southwest Florida held a grand opening celebration for the Little Explorer Play Zone in the Nature Center’s Ferguson Learning Lab. The Little Explorer Play Zone will create learning opportunities for preschoolers and their parents, stimulate the imagination and creativity of young children, and encourage family interaction. The play zone will feature a crawl-through gopher tortoise burrow, where kids can “be a gopher tortoise” and learn about their homes and all the animals that live in their burrows. Kids will also be able to crawl into a mangrove forest and climb up into a bald eagle’s nest. The classroom will offer story readings, crafts and other interactive activities for young children.  The exhibit is open seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with special events on select Thursdays at 10:00 a.m.
