My wife and I first started coming to Marco Island in 2004, and have been coming every fall and spring since. One of the things top of our list every time is to wade along the shoreline of the mainland along the Tiger Tail Lagoon all the way from the country park area out to the end of the lagoon by the Hideaway Beach condos. In all those years till the last time in 2019 we could already see the effects of the storms and natural movement of sand to the end of Sand Dollar, and into the lagoon itself. Shallower water, fewer shore and wading birds, more green slime, etc. etc. We haven't been there since Ian, but I can only imagine. Clearly, the current project will be a Godsend to the area and to the survival of the lagoon and Sand Dollar. We will be back in April and will be out there wading along first thing. Wonderful looking forward to that.
