The Italian American Society of Marco Island had a special guest speaker at their meeting Wednesday night. Seventy-five members and guests were thoroughly enthralled when Police Chief Al Schettino spoke about the effects of Hurricane Irma on Marco Island and how his men responded to the island’s emergencies.
Marco Island Yacht Club members and staff celebrated the grand opening of the club’s totally renovated Burgee Bar, named for the colorful burgees (flags), gifts from other yacht club visitors that decorate the room. The facility was totally renovated with a new and expanded bar, addition of a wine bar and upgrades to equipment and furniture.
Submitted by Doreen Hertel Dan Voss entertained with his symphony of music while he tickled the ivories. The place was packed and lots of people danced to his wonderful assortment of music for the New Year.
The Marco Cruise Club marked its 41st anniversary with the change of watch ceremony at the group’s annual Commodores’ Ball. Held at the Island Country Club, the event is highlighted by the recognition of the incoming “bridge,” or officers, for the year.
