To be eligible, a student must be in grades 6-12 and recommended by an art teacher from their school. Qualified home-schooled children can also apply. There is no fee for the Young Artists Academy. However, students are expected to fulfill their class commitment.
Young Artists Academy provides students the opportunity to learn techniques and further develop their skills. The classes are taught by highly qualified teaching artists, Shelly Castle, Rebecca
Ferguson and Astrid Garcia.
Classes are offered in clay, drawing/ painting and photography. Each accepted student will participate in two of the mediums, and will rank their art class preferences. Each set of classes runs four weeks. Young Artist Academy classes take place on Saturday afternoons from 1-4 PM. This year’s dates are: September 30; October 7, 14, 21, 28; and November 4, 11, 18.
Space is limited, and will be filled on a first to apply basis. Applications are date and time stamped, so it is advisable that students submit their application forms early. The deadline is September 25, 2017.
