Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball Team Returns

By Coastal Breeze News Staff

The Wounded Warriors will return to Marco Island for another inspirational softball game. This team is comprised of young military heroes who have endured serious injuries resulting in the loss of limb(s) while serving our country. With prosthetic legs and arms, through extensive rehabilitation and perseverance, they have become competitive athletes.

This will be the second time the team has visited Marco Island. Alex Galiana, recreation supervisor for city of Marco Island Parks and Recreation Department said, “We are forming a Marco All-Stars team just for this event. It will be comprised of personnel from the Fire Rescue Department, the Police Department, Senior Softball League and the Adult Softball League. We are very fortunate the team has been able to fit a visit to Marco in their busy schedule. This is an awe-inspiring opportunity to see them in action. These heroes are as good as it gets.”

Game day is Saturday, Feb. 8, at Winterberry Park. The first pitch will be thrown at 10 AM after a special Color Guard Ceremony.
