“When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are. Anything your heart desires will come to you,” sang Jiminy Cricket in Walt Disney’s “Pinocchio.” The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Marco Island has its own version of that message. We say, “When you wish upon a cure, your dreams come true.” Our dream is a world without cancer.
Please join us March 30th at Mackle Park from 2 to 9 PM for “Wish Upon a Cure,” the 2019 Relay For Life of Marco Island, presented by Robert J. Flugger. The opening ceremony at 2 PM will lead us in themed laps around our walking track amidst tents and decorations in the spirit of Disney. There will be raffles, entertainment, food and fun for all ages.
At 5 PM, survivors and caregivers will be honored with their own special laps, ceremony and presentation of the Sandy Holdgate Spirit of Relay Award. All cancer survivors and their families are invited to be our guests at a free dinner inside the Mackle Park Community Center featuring food that has been donated by some of our finest local restaurants.
At 8:15 PM, our wish upon a cure will reach for the stars with the Luminaria Ceremony in honor of survivors and in remembrance of loved ones lost.
Please wish upon a cure with us to celebrate, remember and fight back! With your help, our dream of a world without cancer really will come true.
