
Third Place: “Emerald Gator” by Robert Gamble
The 8th Annual City of Marco Island Amateur Wildlife Photo Competition has drawn to a close. Over sixty beautiful photographs were submitted showcasing landscapes, insects, birds, alligators, deer, lizards, flowers, sunsets and more.
This year’s judges had the difficult task of choosing the winners from a great field of entries. Winning photos are seen here.
Judges included Vickie Kelber, travel writer and avid photographer. Vickie has worked with this competition since its inception. Frank Steiger, a Marco Island Policeman and professional photographer. Frank has been a part of the contest for the last three years. New to the contest this year were judges Hyla Crane and Lori Wagor. Hyla is the Executive Director of the Marco

A special thank you to the judges for handling a difficult task, and also to Samantha Malloy of the City of Marco Island for assisting with the logistics of the competition.
If you would like to see all of the entries, they are on exhibit at City Hall. From there, the exhibit will move to the lobby of the Marco Island Historical Museum. Come by and check out the beauty of Southwest Florida as seen through the eyes of photographers.
