Women’s-only Everglades getaway offers fishing, rigging, conservation and more! New Venue!

An incredible Everglades adventure is offered for women for the first time by the award winning “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!®” University Series. The Everglades Adventure University is Oct. 13-14, 2012 at Port of the Islands Everglades Resort, with optional Everglades excursions offered on Friday, Oct. 12.

“This is a great ‘out-there’ fishing adventure, where women can learn and go fishing in an amazing area they might not visit on their own,” commented Founder, Betty Bauman. The organization polled its 7,000 graduates for input, who voted to fish the pristine 10,000 islands, an area known for birds and wildlife viewing as well as world-renowned fishing.

This event differs from the traditional LLGF events. In response to the surge in popularity, kayak fishing has been added. The Friday reception has been moved to Saturday night, replaced by Friday optional swamp buggy rides, airboat tours, sunset cruise and an Everglades City dinner. A room-share program is offered for those coming solo.

For this event, held in conjunction with support from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) through the Sport Fish Restoration Program, women will travel from several states for an exciting weekend of education, hands-on fishing activities, habitat conservation and to meet other female anglers. FWC will educate University participants on the importance of marine conservation and demonstrate hook removal, release techniques and more. The University provides an opportunity for the ladies to use their newly-acquired skills to fish inshore or nearby offshore on their choice of a group boat, back country boat or kayak fishing. The age for participants includes teen females age 16 and up when accompanied by an adult female.
