STONEWALLS is one of the newest additions to the Marco Island restaurant line-up. I had the pleasure of meeting the Stonewalls Team – Tom Garousi, Tim Burke and Al Landers…..

I asked the team whose idea was it to bring onto Marco a new concept in dining. Their motto sums up the style of their services. Fine … Food … Fast. Tom Garousi was the spokesman for the trio.

Garousi said “I bought the basic building as an investment. I felt a building standing empty, free standing across from the main beach front Hotels and Condominiums has to be a sound investment. It’s possibly one of the best locations on Marco. The idea was to remodel with the intention of leasing it out. The ground floor, possibly a restaurant and the upper floor, office space. A number of organizations were very interested, however, while they were pondering, we formed the consortium of Tom, Tim and Al.

It was a good team from the beginning, myself being a design engineer, Tim

having the financial, marketing background and some experience in the food industry and Al who has an excellent track record in the restaurant industry, having owned, managed and sold 11 restaurants, 10 on Marco Island.

After a number of brain storming meetings, considering all options, we came up with a concept, design, and our ideas just came together. We wanted to do something really pleasant, friendly and serve people fresh, healthy food options. This concept is a little different. We varied the layout from high bar stools, individual family booths and tables, to pleasant and relaxing outside seating, including a Happy Hour Bar.”

Inside TVs are available for all viewing tastes since they are not a sports bar. Al describes the concept as “Panera Bread meets Wolfgang Puck” good food, a nice setting. We don’t have waitress service, we run the food out to you. All our food is freshly made and prepared on the premises.”

“We also wanted to keep everything below the $10 threshold. We intend to start offering larger,

dinner dishes. Specials like Chicken Parmesan, Lasagna with side salad in the $12 – $15 range. Many people who come to Stonewalls are on a fixed income. Probably our biggest seller is our half soup and sandwich for $6.99”

Many of meals include a side dish selection-Lettuce Wedges, Side Caesar, Pasta salads, all within a maximum price of $9.99. There is a Kids Menu for $4.99 and a generous Beverage Station. There are delicious desserts available and LaVazza Coffee is served.

Stonewalls is open 7 days a week 7:30 am serving coffee and muffins. Lunches start at around 11 o clock, dinners through to 8pm.

“We are in the process of putting together a more extensive breakfast menu. Customers are requesting more breakfast choices. We’ll add items such as egg dishes, croissant, sandwiches, and waffles.

The other exciting change is we now have an outside bar and we can do some Happy Hours. We’ll feature a variety of Domestic and Imported beers including Warsteiner beer, California & European wines,” Tim added.
