Daniel I. Wasserman, MD, board certified in dermatology with a dual fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and laser and cosmetic medicine, presented at the recent 47th American College of Mohs Surgery Annual Meeting on the intraoperative use of fractionated carbon dioxide lasers for the improvement of post-operative scars. Dr. Wasserman also moderated and spoke at a separate session with Christopher Barker, MD, radiation oncologist at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, presenting results from his experience and outcomes of utilizing photodynamic therapy as a neoadjuvant treatment for select non-melanoma skin cancers prior to Mohs surgery. Members attending the sessions earned continuing medical education credits.
Dr. Wasserman earned a bachelor’s degree at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated cum laude from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his general surgery internship at Stanford University in Stanford, California and the Tufts University/Boston University Combined Dermatology residency program in Boston, Massachusetts. He proceededto obtain a fellowship in laser and cosmetic medicine under the tutelage of renowned physician and inventor, R. Rox Anderson, MD at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital Laser and Cosmetic Center and Wellman Center for Photomedicine. Finally, he completed a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery for the removal of skin cancer with minimal scarring and a 99% cure rate with Dr. Gary Monheit of the Monheit chemical peel.
Dr. Wasserman has provided medical care for over four years to the Naples and Marco Island communities. He established Skin Wellness Physicians in 2014 motivated by a firm belief in delivering high quality individualized health care and concern for the epidemic of skin cancer in southwest Florida.
