November is National Alzheimer’s Month. The 2020 Walk to End Alzheimer’s was held in local neighborhoods this year.
Team Captain for the Marco’s ‘Spirit Team,‘ Barb Markel’s team walked the Esplanade in small groups. There were 17 walkers who raised over $400. Another team captained by Karen Hatcher walked Mackle Park.
Money collected goes to help the Alzheimer’s Association with research and vital programs to help end this terrible disease and to find a cure to Alzheimer’s. More than 5 million Americans are living with the disease, including 580,000 in Florida. Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States and lastly, every 65 seconds, someone in the United States develops Alzheimer’s.
