Visionaries: A Multimedia Visual Art Exhibit

The Marco Island Center for the Arts kicks off the New Year with a multi-media exhibition called “Visionaries”, featuring work by members of the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA). The juried exhibit runs from Jan. 2-23, 2014. An public opening reception will be held on Jan. 14 from 5:30-7:00 PM, and hors d’oeuvres and other refreshments will be served. Guests will be able to meet the artists and mingle with other guests.

Established in 1889, NAWA is the oldest professional women’s fine arts organization in the United States. Its talented members have exhibited at fine venues both nationally and internationally, and exhibitions have featured such

notable artists as Rosa Bonheur, Mary Cassatt, Susan Valadon, Louise Nevelson and Cecelia Beaux.

NAWA’s mission is to promote women artists and provide a forum for them to share ideas and to exhibit their work. Through its exhibitions, seminars and other educational programs, NAWA fosters awareness of the contributions of women to the history of American art. The Florida chapter of the organization was established in 1991 to further enhance the programs of its national organization and to better serve area artists. The chapter also provides scholarships for talented high school art students on an annual basis.
