Lots of exciting camps are still on offer for the rest of summer at the Marco YMCA.
In addition to the regular day camps (at Marco, Everglades City, Manatee and Parkside Elementary Schools and the island’s middle school), plenty of sports and specialty camps are available to suit a variety of needs.
“We’ve had a great turnout so far,” said Programs Director Morgan Joseph of the Marco specialty camps, which to date have included SCUBA, Tennis & Splash and competitive swimming.
Upcoming camps are Challenge Soccer, July 29 to Aug. 2 for 5 to 13 year-olds. Full day and half-day camps are available.
The next volleyball camps are July 8 to 12 and Aug. 5 to 9 for 11 to 18-year-olds; while a new camp in the form of dance takes place July 15 to 19 for 8 to 11 year-olds. Instructor is Sarah Zylstra.
Basketball camp for 5 to 11 year-olds runs July 22 through July 25, and there’s also a special theater camp for 2nd through 8th Graders July 29-Aug. 2 with a live performance on Aug. 3.
Following last year’s inaugural, all ages Diabetes Camp, another one is scheduled this year for Aug. 5-9.
All camps welcome members as well as non-members, and costs for the remaining camps vary between $105 and $250 depending on whether they’re half-day or full-day camps.
Regular day camps run through Aug. 10, and have assorted rates and discounts. Campers can be dropped off any time after 7 AM and must be picked up before 6:30 PM. Fees include breakfast, lunch and healthy snacks, as well as field trips. They may participate in specialty camps as well.
