On December 12th the Greater Marco Family YMCA will hold its 21st Annual Golf Tournament to benefit their Strong Kids Scholarship Campaign.
Strong Kids Scholarships help low income families send their children to the YMCA’s preschool, the East Naples outreach afterschool, and summer day camp programs. Annual preschool tuition costs around $7,000. Tuition assistance is required by approximately 50 percent of the participating families.
Jean Shaw is a member of the tournament organizing committee, and was its chairman for the last three years. She is looking forward to another successful event. “It was one of our better years, last year,” she said. “We just try to make more than we did the year before.”
Funds are raised, in part, through the $125 player registration fee, but the lion’s share of the proceeds are generated through the sponsorship of individual holes and tournament sponsorships, which have several levels.
The player registration fee includes continental breakfast, lunch, greens fees, golf cart and gift bag. Players have the chance to win prizes for the longest drive, closest to the pin, and first and second place in each division. There will also be a Hole-in-One Extravaganza. Courtesy of Germain Lexus in Naples, the hole-in-one prize is a paid two-year lease on a 2016 Lexus. The winner must provide auto insurance coverage for the vehicle.
The tournament will take place at Hammock Bay Golf and Country Club. Event registration begins at 7 AM, along with a continental breakfast. Players will commence with an 8 AM shotgun start. Following golf, there will be lunch and an award presentation.
Sponsorships and foursomes are still available. For further tournament information, contact Jean Shaw at 239-248-4366 or email@example.com.
