Our Art League, Marco Island’s Center for the Arts has a fascinating and innovative new juried gallery exhibit.
Matisse? Arcimboldo? Renoir? Cassat? O’Keefe?
Well, sort of. I’ll ‘spell’ it out for you: Art League member artists pay tribute to master artists whose names begin with M,A,R,C, or O by creating works inspired by their favorite master.
The show, called M.A.R.C.O. – A Salute to the Masters, was the brainchild of artist Rick Granneman and it has much to offer. Along with beautiful 2 and 3-dimensional works of art, each artist was asked to write a brief missive on the unique qualities particular to their chosen Master Artist and how their work reflects those qualities. It’s a delight to the eye and food for the mind.

The Galleries and Gallery Shop at the Art League are open Tuesdays through Fridays, 10-4 and admission is free. The First Tuesday Receptions ask a $10 donation for non-members, and $5 for members and offer fine wine and light refreshments.
