To the citizens of Marco Island

Steve Zandy

Steve Zandy

Many of you have seen me around the island riding my bike. My name is Steve Zandy and I have a brain injury.

I would like to tell everyone on the island how much I appreciate their embracing me and taking me under their wing. You have helped me more than you know. I’d especially like to express my appreciation to Matt Walthour of Island Bike Shop who has been a good friend and an excellent role model. Whenever I was depressed, he told me, “All you have to do is believe and good things will come.” I am doing well today because of that advice and because he’s such a good friend to me.

I would also like to thank the pharmacy team at CVS; Patricia, Leah, Paula, Sarah, Leanne and Jeff. And, Richard the pharmacist, who is the anchor of the team. Then there is my ‘Pharm Princess’ Kelly. Each has given me care as though they were my parent.

Paul, the manager at 7-11 on Winterberry and Collier, and all of his employees have taken good care of me. They let me hibernate in the corner. I just can’t say enough to thank you. Thanks also to everyone at Bank of America, they too treat me like royalty and pitch in to take care of me.

Much appreciation goes out to the Police and paramedics who quickly responded when I went down with a seizure. Each performed their individual job very well. Kathy Kurtz, my Golden Trainer, who knows her job well and does it very well.

Most important of all, I would like to tell my mother how much I love and appreciate her. Now my faith and belief in God is greater than ever. He has shown me a new life.

We are so fortunate this community has so many wonderful, caring people. Thank you. Thank you.

Thank you, Steve Zandy
