14th Annual Iron Joe Turkey Ride
This year’s Iron Joe Turkey Ride was the biggest in 14 years with over 350 participants. The weather was perfect, the routes were well-marked, the food was delicious, the beer was ice cold, the band was top notch, the staff and volunteers ran the event seamlessly, and the guest speakers made everyone laugh and cry. Participants rode either 62 , 40, or 20 miles, and adults and children alike enjoyed the 5-mile Family Fun Ride and scavenger hunt.
Naples Pathways Coalition, non-profit event host, was pleased to have special guest Bill Conner at the ride. In 2017, he went on a 2,600-mile Ride for Life to honor his daughter and encourage people to sign up to become organ donors. Mark Barber, another special guest, had joined Bill on the last 66 miles of his ride to Fort Lauderdale, just a year after receiving a heart transplant. Mark drove over from the east coast to join Bill at the Iron Joe Turkey Ride and gave a heart-warming introduction before he addressed the large crowd. (video link below). Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency was on-site at the ride to answer questions about organ donation and helped numerous people sign up to become organ donors after hearing from Bill Conner and Mark Barber.
Naples Pathways Coalition is grateful to title sponsor, Florida Community Bank; presenting sponsors Fit & Fuel Café and Food & Thought Organic Café; silver sponsor, the Kelleher Firm; and beer sponsor Momentum Brewhouse. Bike shops Naples Cyclery and Cycle followed the cyclists by vehicle to fix flat tires and provide other assistance. Many thanks also go out to numerous volunteers who helped make this another world-class experience for our participants.
Gulf Bay Marketing
Pelican 1 Owner, LLC, the developer for Mystique, is pleased to announce that Gulf Bay® Marketing Group, Inc. has assumed all sales responsibilities as the Licensed Real Estate Broker at the 20-story tower located in the exclusive Pelican Bay enclave of Naples, Florida. Gulf Bay Marketing Group replaces a previous brokerage to handle all aspects of sales as the exclusive listing agency. Gulf Bay Marketing continues to lead all marketing efforts at Mystique, as they have since project inception.
Gulf Bay Marketing specializes exclusively in sales and marketing of new development and has enjoyed and achieved unparalleled success in marketing and selling luxury properties for over 30-plus years throughout Collier County and Naples – including 15 luxury high-rise and low-rise condominiums within Pelican Bay and The Brittany high-rise in Park Shore. Outside of Pelican Bay, Gulf Bay Marketing has led sales and marketing efforts for award-winning developments including Marco Beach Ocean Resort® on Marco Island and the 4,000-acre award-winning, master-planned community of Fiddler’s Creek®. With an esteemed track record representing the developer, Gulf Bay Marketing Group’s sales and marketing efforts have resulted in several billion in sales over the past three decades, and their team brings tremendous and unique insight and skill to the highly anticipated Mystique project.
“Since Mystique’s inception, Gulf Bay Marketing has been very hands-on with every aspect of development and being part of such a collaborative process has been an amazing experience,” said Jennifer Urness, a dedicated on-site Mystique sales specialist. Both Urness and Donna DeFilipps have elected to continue on with the project following the transition of sales to Gulf Bay Marketing Group from the prior brokerage.
“I’ve been with this project from the very beginning and I am excited to be able to see it through. Mystique is truly unique – there’s nothing like it in Naples, at this scale, in such a prime location, with these amenities and this quality of construction,” Urness said.
“This has been somewhat of a natural segue for us, as we’ve worked so closely with Gulf Bay Marketing all along, and we now have the added advantage of not having any competition or conflicting interests with resales, because Gulf Bay Marketing is, and always has been, focused solely on new development,” said sales specialist Donna DeFilipps.
Gulf Bay Marketing is affiliated with Gulf Bay® Group of Companies. Founded in 1986, Gulf Bay Group is one of the largest privately owned and successful development companies in Florida. Headquartered in Naples, Gulf Bay Group’s accomplishments and achievements over the past three decades have resulted in a reputation synonymous with integrity, quality, community confidence and success. Gulf Bay’s completed and under development build-out market value of luxury residential properties is estimated in excess of $8 billion.
Located just steps from the beach on one of only two remaining permitted and developable land parcels in Naples between The Ritz-Carlton on the beach and Port Royal, Mystique offers 68 estate and four penthouse residences with expansive living spaces and terrace views toward the Gulf of Mexico from most units. Additionally, Mystique offers nine Jardin residences.
Construction at the ultra-luxury high-rise continues to progress with Mystique’s Certificate of Occupancy estimated to be achieved in March 2019.
Special Olympics Golf Tournament
Naples Lakes (www.napleslakesfl.com) is hosting a golf tournament in support of the Special Olympics of Collier County on Saturday, December 15 with a 2:30 shotgun start on the newly renovated Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course.
According to Jake Myers, PGA and Head Golf Professional at Naples Lakes, a coach and an athlete will be paired with one or two members to play nine holes. Players will range in ages from 8 to 65. Most coach/athlete pairings will play a modified alternate shot format which is what the Special Olympics athletes play in all of their qualifying and regular events. The members paired may either play the same format or their own ball.
Myers has been involved with the Collier County Special Olympics Program for about eight years and has served as the organization’s Head Golf Coach for the past five years. This is a summertime program that spans 12 weeks culminating in State Golf games being held at the Walt Disney Resort in September, which welcomed over 250 athletes this year.
“When I first became involved with the Collier organization” said Myers, “we had 15 athletes and about ten coaches. At the start of this year, we had 35 athletes and 30 coaches. We are holding this tournament to allow the athletes access to some golf outside of the summer season and to create exposure for the golf program while helping it to grow in the future. There is something inherently gratifying about coming out and supporting these wonderful coaches and athletes. Over the years, we’ve had many volunteers from Naples Lakes.”
Because this is a summer program, the athletes don’t get to play much golf at this time of year. While they are involved with playing many other sports, such as basketball and bowling, Naples Lakes wanted to provide them with an opportunity to play on our great course. Following play, there will be a pizza and ice cream party for the players in the Club’s dining room.
Located at 4784 Naples Lakes Blvd., Naples Lakes Country Club is a private 490-acre gated golf course and country club community where membership is included with every residence. At the heartbeat of the community is the newly renovated Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course, the last course renovation reviewed by Arnold Palmer before his passing. Naples Lakes contains more than 200 acres of lakes and protected nature preserves and has been designated as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, one of only 114 in Florida.
