Marco Island will be hosting the traveling Vietnam Wall in February. The new larger three-quarter-sized replica of the Vietnam Wall in Washington, D.C., known as “The Wall That Heals,” will be making the first stop of its 25th season in Marco Island. Lee Rubenstein of the American Legion #404 said, “We are honored to be chosen as the only Florida site for The Wall That Heals display.”
An entire schedule of events is planned around the Wall’s arrival, from a motorcycle escort to accompany the Wall to the island, to the set-up, Honor Ceremony, reading of names, school visits and presentations. The Wall will be open to the public on February 20, closing on February 23, 2020.
The Wall is also accompanied by a travelling Education Center which includes a 53-foot trailer with a Vietnam War timeline, items representative of those left at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and information to locate names on the Wall.
