Walt Tucker turned 90 this year. In honor of this special event, his children and their families got together for a family reunion. Coastal Breeze News featured Walt in a Salute to Veterans last year, as a survivor of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Eleven of Walt and Sue’s fifteen children came to honor him. They came from all over the United States; California, Illinois, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Texas, Arizona and other parts of Florida. All in all, about 38 members of Walt’s family came for the festivities which not only included Walt’s birthday and Father’s Day, it included the wedding of his granddaughter, Kat held on the beach.
The family chose to gather at Snook Inn last Sunday. It was the perfect setting for lots of laughs, lots of good food and memorable times. Walt got up and sang ‘Oh Danny Boy’ to his family. He was pleased to see them all together for theevent.
While Walt was the eldest in the group, little Abby at just fourteen months, was the youngest. It’s heartwarming to see a family gather and know that through whatever they face in their personal lives, they still have family. Four of Walt’s children were unable to attend the festivities: Rosemary, Ann, Steve and Joe. Each was missed.
Walt wore his special Hawaiian shirt which was hand-made for him decades ago. “It must be made of the finest materials to have lasted so long! I had a shirt made for me and a dress made for my wife, too.” Walt said. “It’s nice to have to have everyone together; they’ve come from all over to celebrate with me.”
Elizabeth Tucker is the baby of the Tucker children. When she married, she became Elizabeth Offner. Then Elizabeth Seldeen married the brother (the eleventh Tucker) of Elizabeth Offner, to become Elizabeth Tucker. So, there were two Elizabeth Tuckers.
The Duggars have nothing on the Tuckers! Happy Birthday, Walt! Coastal Breeze News wishes you many more.
