NJ vs. Ireland

This year, there will be five bouts between NJ and Ireland competing for the Frank Gervin Memorial Belt. Frank Gervin was the founder and coach of the Clonoe Boxing Club, Ireland who was instrumental with all of our club exchanges for years. Frank spent most of his life dedicated to coaching the youth of Ireland. Coach Gervin passed away in 2015 after battling cancer. “I wanted to honor Frank Gervin at this year’s tournament and carry on his memory. The team winner championship belt which will be given to the winning team features a picture of Frank.”

In addition, for the very first time, local youth boxers ages 10-19 will compete on the show against other boxers from Florida. There are 11 bouts scheduled. Our local kids are the focal point this year. The kids have been training for months and have come a long way. It would be great for the community to come out and support these kids, and it’s always a great night of entertainment

Bagpipes will start the event and Mary Jo and Michael O’Regan will perform the anthems. We are also honoring our veterans during the show. Peter and Helen Donaghy of Carmen Construction (Formerly of O’Donoghue’s Restaurant) have graciously purchased tickets for a lot of the veterans who will be attending the event.

All tickets are priced at $20, and are general admission. All seats are close to the action. Tickets will be available at the door. Refreshments and snacks will be available for purchase.
