The Marco Island Academy fills two key positions in staff

Mr. Roger Raymond, known for the successful athletic department he runs at MICMS, will become the Athletic Director the Marco Island Academy while maintaining his role at MICMS. The academy’s board of directors notes it is pleased to welcome Mr. Raymond and acknowledges the asset he will be to the program.

Mr. Chris Pellant of Minnesota was the chosen from several qualified applications for the position of Principal. In a press release from Marco Island Academy’s founder, Jane Watt, it was noted Mr. Pellant served as a Charter School Specialist at the state level for the Minnesota Department of Education. He also served as Vice President for an education consulting. Mr. Pellant was a fiscal monitor for the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) in the Division of School Finance and was the investigator for misuse of funds in the state of Minnesota. He has worked as a principal, professional curriculum writer, Director of Special Education, Director of Special Services, Coordinator of Special Education, Vice President of an education consulting company, and teacher. He will have his Doctorate in Education with Minnesota licensures as a Superintendent, Principal, Director of Special Education, Coach, and Teacher. These credentials have prepared him for the knowledge and abilities needed to be successful at Marco Island Academy.

A meet and greet with Mr. Pellant will be will be held February 3rd, at 6:30 pm at the Marco Island Charter Middle School (MICMS) gym.
