‘The Kings Speech’

The Headquarters Regional Library schedules encore presentation of the film

‘The Kings Speech’ winner of the 2010 Academy Award for best picture is being shown for a second time Wednesday, June 15, 2 p.m. at the Headquarters Regional Library, located at 2385 Orange Blossom Drive.

“The film was originally shown this past week to a full house with others expressing an interest in wanting to attend so a decision was made to show it a second time giving those who missed it the opportunity to see this great film,” said Marilyn Matthes, Director of Collier County Public Libraries.

The film tells the story of Prince Albert Frederick Arthur George’s (Bertie) surprise ascension to the crown under very trying circumstances. As much as the title ‘The Kings Speech’ refers to Bertie’s conquering of this routine speech defect through the intervention of a most unconventional and inspirational speech therapist, it also tells the story of how the new King managed to allay a nation’s fears as they were about to enter World War II through the speech that was to define his reign.

Film seating is on a first come, first seated basis. Reservations are not accepted.
